WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: Jack Blumer, Kiski Area, jr.

Blumer wrestled four matches over the course of the week.

All four ended the same way.

The junior 160-pounder typified Kiski Area’s team dominance in the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs, getting four pins to help the Cavaliers win their third consecutive title.

Blumer’s fourth pin, against Seneca Valley’s Liam Volk-Klos, clinched the title for the Cavaliers. Earlier in the afternoon he stuck Canon-McMillan’s Tyler Rohaley in 10 seconds. He pinned Connellsville’s Dakoda Rodgers in the quarterfinals and South Fayette’s Shane Dunn in the first round.

Other nominees:

Dylan Chappell, Seneca Valley, so: Chappell pinned three of his four opponents in the WPIAL Class AAA tournament and recorded a major decision in the other, helping Seneca Valley reach the WPIAL championship match for the first time in school history.

Bryan Gaul, Burrell, sr: The Bucs’ 132-pounder has been hampered by injury for much of the season, but he returned in a big way Saturday to help his team win its 13th consecutive WPIAL championship. Gaul had a pair of first-period pins, over Beth-Center’s Trevor Pettit in the semifinals and Freedom’s Thomas Young in the championship match. Each bout lasted less than a minute.

Jake Pail, Freedom, sr.: Pail, who reached 100 career victories earlier this season, had a pair of pins Saturday to help Freedom reach the WPIAL Class AA championship match for the third time in four years.
