WPIAL Class AAA preseason team rankings

Rank, team, last season’s record

1. Kiski Area, 21-2

• The WPIAL AAA champion and PIAA runner-up returns nine starters, including three PIAA qualifiers.

2. Canon-McMillan, 15-3

• The WPIAL runner-up, which finished fourth in the state, returns nine starters.

3. Hempfield, 19-2

• The Spartans return nine starters, including three PIAA qualifiers.

4. Seneca Valley, 17-4

• The Raiders finished third in the WPIAL and reached the PIAA semifinals. Twelve starters return.

5. Waynesburg, 14-4

• The Raiders return 12 lettermen and some top freshmen.

6. Franklin Regional, 8-6

• The Panthers return six starters, including two PIAA qualifiers.

7. Connellsville, 14-4

• The Falcons return eight starters and some talented freshmen.

8. Greensburg Salem, 9-7

• The Golden Lions return 11 starters from a team that reached the final eight.

9. Hampton, 20-3

• With 11 starters returning, the Talbots look to build off 2017-18 success.

10. Upper St. Clair, 12-4

• The Panthers return seven starters, including one PIAA qualifier.

Others to watch: Belle Vernon, Bethel Park, Latrobe, North Allegheny, Norwin, Peters Township, Shaler and Thomas Jefferson.
