Nearly a quarter of the WPIAL Class AAAA schools are looking for new football coaches. On Friday, Shaler joined the growing list of Altoona, Hempfield, Kiski Area, Mount Lebanon and Penn Hills without a gridiron boss after veteran coach Neil Gordon announced his resignation.
Gordon spent the last four years at Shaler where he was 27-14 with three playoff berths and two trips to the Quarterfinals.
This follows 20 years, 156 wins and a WPIAL and PIAA state title at Penn Hills from 1987 through 2006.
The 63-year old Gordon claims he is not finished coaching, but just felt the time was right to leave Shaler.
