WPIAL girls soccer playoff picture through Oct. 9, 2023

Section play in the 2023 WPIAL girls soccer regular season has just one week remaining.

The top four teams in each section qualify for the district playoffs. All teams tied for a playoff spot in which head-to-head does not break the tie all qualify for the postseason.

Here is the latest list of district teams that have qualified for the WPIAL girls soccer playoffs through Monday plus the rest of the playoff picture.

Class 4A

7 of a possible 9 teams have qualified

Section 1

North Allegheny Tigers

Seneca Valley Raiders

Fox Chapel Foxes

Butler Golden Tornado

Pine-Richland (4-7) could clinch a playoff berth if it wins all three remaining section games and Butler (7-5) loses both of its section matches.

Section 2

Peters Township Indians

Upper St. Clair Panthers

Canon-McMillan Big Macs

Canon-McMillan (7-3-2) wins the tiebreaker over Mt. Lebanon (6-5-2), thus it has clinched. Bethel Park (6-6) is still alive and the final playoff spot may come down to Mt. Lebanon at Bethel Park on Monday, Oct. 16.

Class 3A

15 of a possible 18 teams have qualified

Kiski Area Cavaliers

Oakland Catholic Eagles

Section 2

Thomas Jefferson Jaguars

Elizabeth Forward Warriors

Connellsville Falcons

Laurel Highlands (6-6) has a half-game lead over Belle Vernon (5-6-1) and a one-game lead in the loss column over Ringgold (4-7-1) with two section matches remaining for all three, including Laurel Highlands at Ringgold on Wednesday.

South Fayette Lions

West Allegheny Indians

Blackhawk (4-6) could tie West Allegheny (6-5) for fourth place, but the Indians win the tiebreaker over the Cougars, thus Blackhawk is eliminated.

14 of a possible 17 teams have qualified

• In Section 1-2A, Beaver (5-4-1) can clinch a playoff berth with one more section win or one more loss by Central Valley (4-6).

• The winner of McGuffey (2-6-1) at West Mifflin (3-6) on Wednesday clinches a playoff berth. A tie and West Mifflin is in.

14 of a possible 18 teams have qualified

Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions

Seton LaSalle (4-6) is one game up in the loss column over Serra Catholic (3-7) and Steel Valley (2-7) with two or three (SV) section matches left. They all play each other head-to-head.

Waynesburg Raiders

South Allegheny (6-4) needs one more section win or one more loss by Bentworth (4-5-1) to clinch a playoff spot.
