WPIAL girls volleyball playoff picture through Oct. 17, 2023

The 2023 WPIAL girls volleyball regular season will be over after Thursday.

Thus far, 65 teams have clinched a district playoff berth.

The top four teams in each section qualify for the district playoffs. All teams tied for a playoff spot in which head-to-head does not break the tie all qualify for the postseason.

Here is the latest list of teams that have qualified for the district girls volleyball playoffs through Tuesday.

Class 4A

Section 1

North Allegheny Tigers

Seneca Valley Raiders

Pine-Richland Rams

North Hills Indians

Section 2

Canon-McMillan Big Macs

Upper St. Clair Panthers

Peters Township Indians

Bethel Park (3-6) and Mt. Lebanon (3-6) are tied for fourth place. The Black Hawks host Canon-McMillan on Thursday while the Blue Devils visit Upper St. Clair (on HSSN). If they end up tied, they both qualify for the playoffs after splitting their head-to-head games this season.

Shaler Titans

Fox Chapel

Class 3A

18 of a possible 21 teams clinched

Section 1

Hampton Talbots

Gateway Gators

Plum Mustangs

West Mifflin Titans

McKeesport (4-7) is one game behind West Mifflin. The Tigers visit the Titans on Thursday and can clinch with a victory.

Section 2

Oakland Catholic Eagles

South Fayette Lions

Moon (5-6), Trinity (5-6) and Montour (5-6) are alive for the final two playoff spots. On Thursday, the Tigers visit the Hillers while the Spartans travel to West Allegheny. The winner of Moon at Trinity clinches while Montour is also in with a win. If Montour loses and Trinity loses, Trinity is in and Montour is out. If Montour loses and Moon loses, Montour is in and Moon is out.

Brownsville (8-7) is one game behind Charleroi for fourth place. If the Falcons beat visiting Waynesburg on Thursday and Charleroi loses to Washington, Brownsville will tie Charleroi and they will both qualify after splitting their head-to-head games.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers

Hopewell Vikings

Central Valley (6-7) is one game behind Hopewell for fourth place. If the Warriors beat host New Brighton on Thursday and Hopewell loses to Quaker Valley, Central Valley will tie Hopewell and they will both qualify after splitting their head-to-head games.
