WPIAL high school football playoff field nearly set

Here’s a look at the teams that have qualified for the WPIAL football playoffs. The playoffs begin next Friday, and pairings will announced Monday night.

Class 6A (6 teams)

1. North Allegheny, 2. Pine-Richland, 3. Mt. Lebanon, 4. Central Catholic, 5. Seneca Valley, 6. Canon-McMillan

Class 5A (16 teams)

Allegheny Eight: 1. Peters Township, 2. West Allegheny, 3. Bethel Park**, 4. Upper St. Clair 5. Woodland Hills

Big East: 1. Gateway, 2. Penn-Trafford, 3. McKeesport**, 4. Franklin Regional, 5. Latrobe

Northern: 1. Penn Hills, 2. Mars, 3. North Hills, 4. Shaler, 5. Armstrong, 6. Kiski Area*

Class 4A (8 teams)

Northwest Eight: 1. South Fayette, 2. Blackhawk, 3. Beaver, 4. New Castle

Big Eight: 1. Thomas Jefferson, 2. Belle Vernon, 3. West Mifflin, 4. Greensburg Salem

Class 3A (8 teams)

Tri-County West: 1. Aliquippa, 2. Beaver Falls, 3. Quaker Valley, 4. Central Valley

Big East: 1. Derry, 2. North Catholic, 3. Elizabeth Forward, 4. Freeport

Class 2A (16 teams)

Allegheny: 1. Shady Side Academy, 2. Steel Valley, 3. Avonworth, 4. East Allegheny

Midwestern: 1. Mohawk, 2. Freedom, 3. New Brighton, 4. Riverside

Century: 1. Charleroi, 2. Washington, 3. McGuffey, 4. Beth-Center

Three Rivers: 1. Burgettstown, 2. South Side, 3. Seton LaSalle, 4. Serra Catholic

Class A (8 teams)

Eastern: 1. Jeannette, 2. Clairton

Tri-County South: 1t. California, 1t. Monessen, 1t. West Greene

Big Seven: 1. OLSH, 2. Rochester

=Coin flip between West Greene, California and Monessen to decide Tri-County South Conference seeding slated for 10 a.m. Monday

+If Imani Christian defeats Chartiers-Houston on Saturday, the Saints earn the second wild card in Class A. If Imani loses, Laurel remains alive for the wild card
