Week 15 of the high school football teams still playing continue to shrink…As three WPIAL teams entered the weekend hoping their dreams of a PIAA championship would not sink…Fighting against both tough competition and bitter cold…North Allegheny, South Fayette and Clairton head to Hershey to play for state gold.

PIAA CLASS AAAA Semifinals:
North Allegheny Tigers 35 – Cumberland Valley Eagles 17
The North Allegheny Sports Networks Randy Gore and Rick Meister on the call

The first half of the state Semifinals game at Mansion Park in Altoona was a tough defensive battle in which Cumberland Valley claimed a 10-7 lead over North Allegheny after two quarters. But the game changed big time in favor of the WPIAL champs in the second half, starting with a third quarter trick play on a pass from receiver Matt Steinbeck to Dan Slivka that covered 32 yards and put the Tigers up for good as they scored four second half touchdowns en route to a 35-17 victory over the Eagles.

PIAA CLASS AA Semifinals:
South Fayette Lions 49 – Forest Hills Rangers 12
WJPA-FM 95.3's Bob Gregg and Mark Uriah on the call

South Fayette quarterback Christian Brumbaugh threw an early touchdown pass…however it was a 64-yard pick-six that gave Forest Hills an early 7-0 lead. But it only fired up the WPIAL champions as they would go on to score 21 points in the first quarter, including a 50-yard touchdown run by Jeff Davis that gave the Lions a lead they would never lose in what turned out to be a 49-12 victory over the District 6 champion Rangers.

PIAA CLASS A Semifinals:
Clairton Bears 48 – Farrell Steelers 8
MSA Sports on WBGG-AM Fox Sports Radio 970's Sam Hall and Lee Mohn on the call

The past two years, Clairton has squeaked past Farrell in the state Semifinals to advance to Hershey. There would be no fourth quarter dramatics in this contest however as the defending PIAA and three-time WPIAL champions put this one to be in the second quarter. Leading 6-0, 32 unanswered points in the second quarter, including this 62-yard punt return for a touchdown by Josh Page gave the Bears a convincing 48-8 triumph over their District 10 rival Steelers.
