While every week of the 2015 WPIAL football season has provided a bevy of great games and highlight-reel plays, no week has been more exciting or featured as many crucial moments as this past week. In fact, there were so many worthy candidates, that South Fayette’s thrilling second-half comeback against Seton-La Salle to extend its winning streak to 40 games didn’t even make the cut. Here are the top moments from week eight of the campaign.

Central Catholic 35, Pine-Richland 28

The Vikings and Rams met twice last year, including at Heinz Field in the Class Quad-A Championship Game, and Pine-Richland prevailed on both occasions. This year, the Vikings exacted a measure of revenge, as quarterback Troy Fisher scored the game-winning points on a 16-yard run with 26 seconds left. Fisher also added three touchdowns through the air to guide his team to the crucial triumph.

MSA Sports’ Lanny Frattare and Bob Orkwis on WJAS-AM 1320 provide the commentary for the winning score:

Woodland Hills 21, Mount Lebanon 17

In a battle of undefeated teams in the Southeastern Conference, top-ranked Woodland Hills gained the upper hand for the majority of the contest. The Blue Devils mounted a comeback, though, and drove inside the Wolverines 5-yard-line in the final minute, with a chance to score the go-ahead touchdown. Instead, quarterback Eddie Jenkins’ pass was intercepted in the end zone by Tyriq Thompson to seal the victory for Woodland Hills.

Woodland Hills Sport Network’s Adam Gusky and Fred Guy on WZUM-AM 1550 have the call:

Valley 23, Highlands 20

The Allegheny Conference has featured a slew of wild contests this season, and the clash between Valley and Highlands proved to be another instant classic. While the Golden Rams already had clinched a playoff spot, the Vikings were fighting to keep their hopes alive. With the game tied in the final minute, Valley took over inside its own territory, but a pair of big plays set the stage for a field-goal attempt in the closing seconds. Jordan Frame’s kick split the uprights as time expired, giving Valley the massive victory.

MSA Sports’ Matt Vandriak and Steve Nagler detail the final seconds of action:

Apollo-Ridge 56, Deer Lakes 35

Another tilt in the Allegheny Conference on Friday did not have the same dramatic finish, but instead, offered a historic individual performance. Apollo-Ridge’s Duane Brown rushed for 460 yards and eight touchdowns in leading the Vikings to a key victory against the host Lancers. Brown’s last carry went for a 54-yard score, which in the process placed him ahead of Connellsville’s Marcus Furman as the WPIAL’s single-game rushing leader.

MSA Sports’ Sean Meyers and Brandon Showers provide the call for the historic touchdown:
