Choosing just four plays from this past week was particularly difficult, as nearly a dozen games were tightly-contested and featured prominent action. However, two-point conversation attempts were the common theme for this compilation. Three of the top plays consisted of conversation attempts – one successful, and two which failed – that directly determined the outcome of games. Here are the best highlights from Week Six.
1. Upper St. Clair 21, West Allegheny 20
First place in the 5A Allegheny Nine Conference was at stake when the Indians hosted the Panthers. Although West Allegheny appeared to have the win all but locked up, a late turnover by the Indians allowed Upper St. Clair to score and send the game to overtime. After the Panthers scored to go up 21-14, West Allegheny also found the end zone. However, the Indians elected to go for the win instead of the tie. Tight end Mateo Vandamia took the snap, and after seeing no running room to the right, tried to flip a pass to a teammate. USC’s Tom Kyle intercepted it, though, securing the W for the Panthers.

2. East Allegheny 14, Avonworth 13
All of the talk in 2A has been about the defending champion Steel Valley, but East Allegheny was tied with the Ironmen atop the 2A Three Rivers Conference entering Friday. That perfect conference mark of the Wildcats was tested by Avonworth, though. The Antelopes scored to pull within a single point with just 21 seconds remaining, but opted to go for the two-point conversation. That decision backfired, as Avonworth QB Derek Johncour was sacked by Davon McDougold to seal the outcome.

3. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 16, Rochester 13
While the first two plays featured failed two-point attempts, the Chargers had better luck on their try. After scoring on a lengthy drive to pull within one of the Rams, OLSH turned to the ground game and Richard Banks. Banks reached paydirt on the conversion, putting the Chargers in the lead with less than two minutes remaining. OLSH added a safety and prevailed, handing Rochester its first conference setback.

4. Brentwood 35, South Allegheny 32
The contest between the Spartans and Gladiators was not determined by a two-point conversation, but it still came down to the final minutes. Much-improved South Allegheny was clinging to a narrow lead with less than five minutes left in regulation, until Michael Trent hooked up with Evan Vickless on a touchdown pass for Brentwood. The play ultimately proved to be the winning strike, as the Spartans hung on to prevail by three points.
