One game each in Class AAA, Class AA and Class A owned the Week Six Saturday spotlight in WPIAL football. Beaver and West Shamokin took a big step toward a possible postseason berth while Ambridge got a chance to celebrate its first victory of the 2013 campaign. Here are the players that helped make it happen.

Stephon McGinnis – Ambridge

Football coaches will try to tell you all of the time that you can not be one dimensional and that being balanced on offense is huge. Ambridge fans might disagree after their team was victorious Saturday in a Class AAA Parkway Conference tilt with 393 rushing yards and ZERO passing yards. Leading the way on the ground was Stephon McGinnis, who gained 215 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 45-13 rout of the visiting Hopewell Vikings.

Alex Rowse – Beaver

While Ambridge hit the ground running all afternoon, Beaver took to the air Saturday night in their annual Homecoming game. Quarterback Alex Rowse hit on 24 of 39 passes for 330 yards and SIX touchdown passes in a monster performance fitting for the month of October as the Bobcats stayed in the hunt for a Class AA Midwestern Conference playoff spot with a 62-29 rout of the Riverside Panthers.

Zac Horner – West Shamokin

What a difference a year makes. The 2012 season was two weeks old when West Shamokin lost their WPIAL record 44th consecutive football game. Now the 2013 season is six weeks old and the team from Rural Valley is once conference victory away from clinching the schools first ever playoff berth. Junior running back Zac Horner came out of his corner and rushed for 106 tough yards and scored on a 26-yard run that put the Wolves up for good in a 27-8 win over the host Wilkinsburg Tigers in a Class A Eastern Conference battle.
