WPIAL team takes over top spot in Trib HSSN softball state rankings

A big result in District 11 led to the only change at the top of a classification in this week’s Trib HSSN state softball rankings.

Nativity BVM defeated former No. 1 Williams Valley, 9-3, to surge from No. 5 to No. 2. That result opened the door for West Greene to take over the top spot in Class A.

Other significant changes included:

Conestoga, Hampton, Hanover, Philipsburg-Osceola and Holy Cross exited the rankings.

New to the top five are Spring-Ford, Abington Heights, Knoch, Girard and Bishop McCort.

Here is the latest PIAA Top 5 in each of the six classifications through May 2.
