Mt. Lebanon girls basketball took over sole possession of third place in Section 2-6A by rolling over Upper St. Clair, 58-42.

The Blue Devils (6-8, 5-2) raced out to a 22-9 lead after one quarter and increased their advantage to 37-19 by halftime.

Patrice Smith led the Blue Devils with a game-high 17 points and Morgan Palmer added 13. Sarah Price and Lindsay Meyer each scored 11 for Upper St. Clair (7-6, 4-3).

Blackhawk 77, New Castle 16 — Mackenzie Amalia scored 18 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone in her career, and Blackhawk (11-2, 6-0) rolled to a Section 2-4A victory. Amalia now has 1,008 points for the No. 2 ranked Cougars.

Rochester 66, Quigley Catholic 51 – Corynne Hauser scored 24 points to lead Class A No. 3 Rochester to a Section 1 victory. Alexis Robison scored 18 for Rochester (11-3, 6-0). Taylor Kirschner scored 24 for Quigley (7-6, 4-2).

West Greene 63, Avella 33 – Madison Lampe scored 23 points, and No. 1 West Greene clobbered Avella in a Section 2-A battle. West Greene (11-1, 6-0) raced out to a 23-9 lead after one quarter against Avella (9-4, 4-2).

Chartiers Valley 61, South Fayette 40 – Four players scored double figures, led by Abby Vaites game-high 25 points, for Class 5A No. 1 ranked Colts. Chartiers Valley (14-0, 6-0 Section 1) raced out to a 20-5 lead after one quarter.

Oakland Catholic 71, Uniontown 21 — Alexis Sestric scored 17 points and Jayde Boyd 16 as Oakland Catholic, ranked No. 3 in Class 5A, easily rebounded from a Section 3 loss to No. 2 Penn Hills.

Shady Side Academy 55, Deer Lakes 36 – The Lancers were no match for Class 3A No. 3 Shady Side Academy in its key Section 3 first-place showdown. Nyla Rozier and Catherine Jewart each scored 15 points for Shady Side Academy (11-1, 7-0). Deer Lakes fell to 9-3, 5-2.

Greensburg Central Catholic 73, Clairton 63 – No. 2 Greensburg Central Catholic claimed sole possession of Section 3-A by defeating No. 5 Clairton in a first-place showdown.

The Centurions (12-1, 5-0) led 24-21 after one quarter and opened up a 42-33 lead by halftime.

Senior Bella Skatell tossed in a team-high 23 points and junior Melina Maietta had 20 for the Centurions. Senior Anna Eisaman chipped in with 11 in the win.

Iyanna Chapman had a game-high 26 points for the Bears (11-2, 4-1). Three other players each scored 10 in the loss.

Hempfield 49, Connellsville 30 – Sarah Liberatore scored 23 points, and Hempfield rallied to record its first section victory in Section 2-6A. Connellsville led (4-9, 1-6) led 10-5 after a quarter.

Jessica Persin scored 13 points and Emma Hoffner added 10 for the Spartans (6-6, 1-6). Zoe Youdell scored 10 points Connellsville (4-9, 1-6).

Southmoreland 44, Mt. Pleasant 35 – Southmoreland, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A by TribHSSN, pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat its neighboring rival in Section 3 action. First-place Southmoreland led 31-28 heading into the final quarter.

Bailey Kuhns scored 13 points, Charity Henderson 11 and Gracie Spadaro 10 for the Scotties (12-2, 6-1). Chloe Jaworski had a game-high 14 points for Mt. Pleasant (2-5, 4-10).

Elizabeth Forward 64, Belle Vernon 60 – The Warriors outscored Belle Vernon 18-11 in the fourth quarter and rallied for a Section 3-4A win. Elizabeth Forward (8-5, 6-1) stayed in a first-place tie with Southmoreland.

Bailie Brinson led Elizabeth Forward with 17 points. Rachel Wobrak and Lindsay Steeber each scored 21 points in the loss for Belle Vernon (7-6, 4-3).

Ringgold 54, Yough 11 – Faith Martin scored 15 points, and Ringgold won its first section game of the season. The Rams (3-10, 1-6) led Yough, 21-2, after a quarter and 39-3 at halftime in the Section 3-4A contest. Yough falls to 3-10 and 0-7.

Serra 81, Jeannette 53 – Dymond Crawford scored a game-high 32 points, but it wasn’t enough to help Jeannette defeat Class 2A No. 2 Serra on a Section 2 contest. Serra (10-2, 6-0) outscored Jeannette (3-10, 1-5) 45-21 over the middle two quarters to break open a close game. Nicole Pawlowski scored 30 points for Serra.

Derry 59, Valley 34 – Senior forward Destiny Roberts scored 28 points, and Derry (6-7, 4-3) breezed to an easy Section 3-3A win. The Trojans outscored Valley, 25-6, in the second quarter to take a 31-12 lead at halftime. Dayonna Jones scored 13 points for Valley (2-12, 0-7).

Monessen 44, Mapletown 38 – The Greyhounds outscored the Maples in every quarter and escaped with a Section 2-A win on the road. Kenelle Weston scored 12 points and Zykavia Hairston 10 for Monessen (3-10, 3-3). Kelsi Smith scored 13 for Mapletown (5-7, 2-4).

North Star 45, Ligonier Valley 42 – Alexia Boyd scored 13 points and Destiny Sheriff had 12, but it wasn’t enough for the Rams in a non-section game. Krysten Joseph led North Star (5-6) with a game-high 24 points. The Rams fall to 1-12.

BOYS

Ligonier Valley 67, West Shamokin 49 – Marrek Paola scored 20 of his game-high 23 points in the second half, and Ligonier Valley (13-1, 8-0) eased to a PIAA District 6 Heritage Conference game. Michael Marinchak chipped in with 14 points for the Rams. West Shamokin falls to 10-4, 7-3.
