Don Vandergrift: 1939 – 2010
The MSA Sports Network lost one of our own Monday morning with the passing of Don Vandergrift. Vandergrift was the voice of the North Allegheny Tigers and was part of both the Nauticom Sports Network and the MSA Sports Network since day one with his work with the North Allegheny Sports Network.

North Allegheny and South Park Duo’s Win 2010 WPIAL Girls Tennis Doubles Titles

One champion was expected, coming into the district doubles postseason as the top-seed. The other dynamic duo surprised the field, winning gold as the 11th-seed. Friday afternoon at Pine-Richland High School, the South Park tandem of Elise Carter and Tracy Gibson cruised to the WPIAL Class AA doubles tennis title.

PITTSBURGH CITY LEAGUE LOOKING TO JOIN WPIAL
The Pittsburgh City League is considering disbanding and joining the WPIAL. The City League has spoken with the WPIAL about possibly joining, as early as the 2012-13 season. Currently, the City League has nine schools, but Peabody is closing after this school year. Schenley also will close and its students will be at different schools.

Sisters Keep Gold in the Family, Steal the Show at WPIAL Girls Golf Championships
It was a pair of sisters claiming gold at the WPIAL Division I and II Girls Individual Golf Championships at the Club at Nevillewood on Tuesday. In D-I, Katterina Luttner of Fox Chapel edged her two-time defending champion sister Nadia by one stroke, while in D-II, Emily Rohanna of Waynesburg, sister of former two-time champ Rachel Rohanna, ran away with the gold.
