For most teams around the WPIAL, the 2012-2013 basketball season began this past weekend with a Tipoff Tournament of some sort. Some tournaments were round-robin, but most crowned boys and/or girls champions after the action was complete. The Road to Hershey and the 2012 high school football season conclude this weekend here on the MSA Sports Network. Last year, Gateway, New Castle, Beaver Falls and Lincoln Park won WPIAL boys basketball titles. When it comes to finding the top girls basketball teams in WPIAL Class AAAA this season, the South Hills are alive.Section 4 of Class AAAA is loaded with strong teams this season. The section always is good, but got even better this season with the addition of Chartiers Valley. Bethel Park, Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair are three other teams in the section that are among the best in Class AAAA.The season gets underway Friday night and here is a preview:CLASS AAAASECTION 1Team to beatPenn-Trafford. Ricky Rozier scored from one yard out with 3:51 remaining to play to give the Winston Salem State Rams a berth in the NCAA Division II semfinals with a 21-17 victory over IUP on Saturday in North Carolina.
