It was the final tune up for most teams before conference play begins in the third week of the WPIAL football season...unless you play in the Class A Eastern or Tri-County South Conference...then it is section play and business as usual. The Century Conference has always been one of the most competitive conferences from top to bottom in the WPIAL. Just three years ago, the conference crowned tri-champions in Sto-Rox, Seton-LaSalle and Keystone Oaks. There is little doubt that high school football is king on Friday nights in Western Pennsylvania. However it's not ALL about Friday nights. South Fayette enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. They went undefeated in the regular season and captured the Class AA Century Conference championship. However their season came to a bitter end in a wild shootout loss to Aliquippa in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. The 2011 WPIAL softball season is set to begin on Friday, March 25th.
