For once Mother Nature cooperated with the PIAA on the third weekend of December, No changes to the schedule were necessary due to weather and no snow storms were in the forecast for the weekend. Kickoff temperature for the opening game was 32 degrees and sunny, and not a flake of snow to be found. Good news bad news on Saturday from the 2010 PIAA Football Championships in Hershey. North Allegheny won their second PIAA Quad A championship with a 21-0 blanking of LaSalle College. It was not so good for the South Fayette Lions as they were handled by District 12 champion West Catholic 50-14. A dominant performance for West Catholic as the Burrs pilled up 406 yards on the ground on the way to a 50-14 blowout win over South Fayette in the PIAA Class AA championship game. The North Allegheny Tigers pitched a shutout, the first in a state title game since Pittsburgh Central Catholic blanked Parkland in 2007, defeating LaSalle College 21-0 in the PIAA Quad A championship game Saturday night at HersheyPark Stadium.
