Sewickley Academy girls basketball gets back to section action

The Sewickley Academy girls basketball team resumes Section 1-1A action Thursday at 7 p.m. at home against Cornell. The Panthers, 4-2 overall, own a 2-1 record in section play with victories over Vincentian Academy and Quigley Catholic. In 49 football seasons, Jim Render filed away more than enough memories to fill a book or two. Now, Render said, maybe he'll find the time to actually write one. The winningest football coach in WPIAL history announced his retirement Thursday after nearly five decades and more than 400 victories.
