After winning 12 of 14 titles a week ago in the Southwest Regional Tournament in Johnstown, the WPIAL had a strong showing in the PIAA Tournament at Hershey. While ten of eleven higher seeds moved on to the Final Four on Quarterfinals Wednesday in the PIHL playoffs, most of them did so with a mighty struggle, including one overtime game and one double overtime thriller. Mount Lebanon and Jeannette entered championship weekend searching for more gold. The Blue Devils won WPIAL AAAA crowns in 2009 and 2010 while the Jayhawks captured AA gold last winter.
