WPIAL Girls Basketball – 2009-2010 Season Review

When it came to the 2009-2010 WPIAL girls basketball season, the song remained the same in Class AAAA and Class AAA while a new tune was being sung in both Class AA and Class A. Both Mount Lebanon in Class AAAA and New Castle in Class AAA came away with successful runs and a repeat of their WPIAL girls basketball championships while in Class AA, Jeannette capture a first ever district girls hoops crown while Vincentian Academy surprised all by winning the Class A title. The Blue Devils would go on to capture state gold for a second straight year. Here is a look back at the regular season standings along with both the WPIAL and PIAA postseason girls basketball results.

2009-2010 PIAA GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYOFF RESULTS:

History was made at Penn State University as history repeated itself. For the first time ever, all four defending PIAA girls basketball champions successfully defended their state crowns including Mount Lebanon as the Blue Devils finished off a second consecutive season of winning both the WPIAL and PIAA state title with a runaway victory in the Class AAAA championship game.
