North Allegheny, Clairton, Erie Prep & Wyomissing Win 2012 PIAA Football Titles

The West ended up going 3-1 against the East in the PIAA football championships in 2012. The Clairton Bears finished off a third straight 16-0 season with a fourth consecutive PIAA Class A state football championship. The win extends the longest high school football winning streak in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania to 63 in a row. Erie Cathedral Prep won the Class AAA state title while North Allegheny made it two Class AAAA state crowns in the last three years. Only Aliquippa came up three points short of a clean sweep for the WPIAL and Western Pa. North Allegheny Is Record Setting In PIAA Quad-A Title Victory

The North Allegheny Tigers completed an undefeated season with a record setting 63-28 victory over the Coatesville Red Raiders in the PIAA Quad-A Championship game on Saturday night at Hersheypark Stadium.

Wyomissing Beats Aliquippa In State AA Battle Of Unbeatens
In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Wyomissing Spartans won their first ever PIAA football championship with a 17-14 victory over the WPIAL champion Aliquippa Quips on Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium.Wyomissing dodged some bullets early in the contest and forced Aliquippa to come up empty four times in the red zone in the contest. Mason Smith ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. The Spartans defense was in a true bend but not break mode, allowed Aliquippa to run for 323 yards but stopping the Quips when they needed to. Jonah Bowman set a state championship record with a 52 yard field goal in the third quarter for the Spartans.

Erie Cathedral Prep Takes The Gold in Class AAA Football

Damion Terry threw for a record setting 317 yards and two scores to lead the District 10 champion Erie Cathedral Prep Ramblers to their second PIAA championship with a 24-14 victory over the Archbishop Wood Vikings in the Class AAA title game Friday night at Hersheypark Stadium. With the win, the Ramblers handed the defending champions their first loss to a Class AAA team in over two seasons. The teams combined for 762 yards of offense. The Vikings ran for 305 yards on the night and held the ball for 32 minutes but could not tame the Ramblers’ high powered offense.

63 and Counting as Clairton Wins Fourth Straight PIAA Class A Football Title
The Clairton Bears won their 63rd consecutive game and fourth straight PIAA Class A championship with a 20-0 win over the Dunmore Bucks at Hersheypark Stadium. The Bears did so in dominant fashion, running 66 plays and holding the football for over 30 minutes. Quips Cruise To 14th Win in PIAA Class AA Quarterfinals
November 30, 2012
The Aliquippa Quips continued their winning ways with an easy 51-15 victory over the District 9 champion Karns City Gremlins at Sarge Alberts Stadium in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinal round. Aliquippa led 31-0 after one quarter and 44-0 at the half. The Quips had 333 rushing yards in the first half and scored on seven of their eight possessions in the half, while the defense held the Gremlins to mnus 6 yards rushing in the same period.
