The Blackhawk Cougars sitting in 4th place and an outside shot at the third seed in the Open Class PIHL playoffs simply laid an egg in a 7-0 nothing loss to the Harbor Creek Huskies. The Huskies have the first seed wrapped up for the playoffs which start Sunday February 23rd. It was all Huskies all night as they came on strong right from the first face off. They had played the night before so it came as somewhat of a surprise. Goals by Zach Morris and Nick Rocco in the first period gave them a 2-0 lead after the first 17:00 minute period. they out shot the Cougars 17-3 as well.MSA Sports Top Ten – PIHL Hockey – 02/13/2014

The Battle to the Bluff tips off with exclusive coverage of EVERY boys and girls district postseason game this week here on the MSA Sports Network. At the Beaver County Ice Arena in Open Class Hockey competition the Wheeling Park Patriots win a wild game over the home standing Blackhawk Cougars by a 6-5 score. In a game with playoff implications for both teams. The game was tied four times, as the Cougars kept coming back. But the Patriots scored last for the win. In the first period Blackhawk scored on a goal by Bobby Piccerilo at 4:28 to open the scoring to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Cameron Houk and Grant Rombold had assists. That lead lasted until :17 seconds left in the period as Wheeling Parks Austin Curnes tied it at 1-1. It was Senior night at the Beaver County Ice Arena for the Blackhawk Cougars Hockey team. Seven players were honored before the game. However the Harborcreek Huskies spoiled the festivities with a 6-3 come from behind victory to improve to 12-1 on the season.
