2010-2011 MSA SPORTS CUP UPDATED STANDINGS
April 20, 2011The chase for the MSA Sports Cup is now two-third through the 2010-2011 high school sports season. The MSA Sports Cup is a challenge to determine the best sports program for the school year from the WPIAL in each classification. Here are the second updated standings through the 2010-2011 winter sports season.
2011 MSA SPORTS ALL-MAT WRESTLING TEAM
March 23, 2011Last weekend put a stamp on the end of yet another season of fantastic wrestling. The WPIAL produced 5 state champions and 48 total medallists (24 in both AA and AAA) over that time in Hershey. While there were many great wrestlers to watch and follow throughout the season, the MSA Sports Network had whittled the superb list down to the top ten wrestlers of 2010-2011 for our All-Mat Team.
FR’s Nico Megaludis Lone WPIAL Golden Boy in PIAA AAA Wrestling
March 13, 2011After winning four WPIAL titles a week ago, Franklin Regional senior Nico Megaludis had one more gold medal he wanted to add to his mantel. After finishing third as a freshman, Megaludis rattled off two straight PIAA championships before this weekend.
Four WPIAL Class AA Wrestlers Are Golden in PIAA ChampionshipsAfter winning 12 of 14 titles a week ago in the Southwest Regional Tournament in Johnstown, the WPIAL had a strong showing in the PIAA Tournament at Hershey. Six wrestlers made it to the finals, with four coming home with state gold, and picking up a total of 24 medals.
PIAA Class AA Individual Wrestling Southwest Regional Results 2011
March 5, 2011It was a golden day for WPIAL wrestlers Saturday at the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown during the championship finals of the PIAA Class AA Southwest Regionals. District wrestlers won gold in 12 of the 14 championship bouts. Also, a total of 37 wrestlers from the WPIAL qualified for the state championships next weekend.

February 26, 2011The WPIAL held its individual wrestling sectionals in Class AAA on Saturday to set the field for the district championships March 3rd through March 5th. SSA’s Geoff Alexander Golden For a 4th Time in 2011 WPIAL Class AA Individual Wrestling ChampionshipsThe 2011 WPIAL Class AA Individual Wrestling tournament had a bit of a rhythm to it Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School, with many wrestlers duplicating previous gold medal victories. The story of the night was the 4th WPIAL championship for Shady Side Academy's Geoff Alexander, who became the 20th wrestler in WPIAL history to win gold in all four years of his high school career.

Central Dauphin and Bethlehem Catholic Win 2011 PIAA Team Wrestling Championships
February 13, 2011District 3 Central Dauphin is now celebrating a 3-peat after winning the 2011 PIAA Team Wrestling Class AAA championship in Hershey Saturday afternoon. In the Class AA finals, District 10 champion Fort LeBoeuf failed to repeat as the Bison made it to the finals before losing to Bethlehem Catholic Saturday at the GIANT Center. It was the Golden Hakws first ever state title.
CANON-McMILLAN & BURRELL IN 7th HEAVEN AS 2011 WPIAL TEAM WRESTLING CHAMPIONS
February 6, 2011Two of the most decorated wrestling programs in the WPIAL are celebrating a record tying 7th district team championship Saturday with victories in the WPIAL Team Wrestling finals at Chartiers Valley High School. Canon-McMillan captured a second consecutive Class AAA title and the seventh championship ties them with Connellsville for the most in WPIAL AAA history.
Burrell Gets One for the Thumb in Winning a 5th Straight WPIAL AA Wrestling Title
February 5, 2011After giving Chartiers-Houston a 6 point head start, Burrell never looked back in the 2011 WPIAL Class AA team Wrestling championship match Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School. The Bucs rattled off 6 straight victories after giving up a forfeit at 103 pounds, four of those wins by fall for as Burrell won the battle of the Bucs 54-20 for a fifth consecutive WPIAL Class AA gold crown.
Canon-McMillan Beats Latrobe for Back-to-Back AAA Wrestling Crowns While Kiski Area Qualifies for StatesAfter winning a WPIAL championship a season ago, Canon-McMillan came into Saturday's action looking for the opportunity to repeat. And repeat they did as the Big Macs knocked off the Latrobe Wildcats at Chartiers Valley High School. They got off to a fast start, winning 4 of the first 5 matches, one by fall (freshman Alec Hutchin) to take an early 15-3 lead.
