Deer Lakes punches ticket to quarterfinals with come-from-behind win over Yough
When the WPIAL playoff brackets were first released last week, Deer Lakes and Yough were scheduled to play at Latrobe at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Due to the Lancers holding prom on the same night, the game was moved to an earlier time and a location closer to Deer Lakes.

There was only one change to the latest edition of the 2021 Trib HSSN state baseball rankings in the bottom three classifications, but five teams were out in the top three classifications as the district playoffs begin.

Highlands has been playing some of its best baseball in recent weeks, so heading in to its WPIAL Class 4A first-round game Wednesday against Belle Vernon, coach Jeff Campbell said his team just needed to do one thing.

The Plum baseball team thought it had one more comeback in it. But Latrobe, up by seven runs after two innings, was able to hold on for an 8-7 victory in a WPIAL Class 5A first-round game Wednesday at Norwin High School.
